Dr. Beco,
I wanted to write to you to update you on Kaiser, my German Shepherd who you started on cytopoint 2 1/2 years ago. The change in him has been incredible. Before cytopoint, Kaiser didn't like to be outside, never lying in the grass, scratched and chewed all day. Even though I saw the changes start immediately, they continued. On the scale you gave me, Kaiser is a 1. He doesn't scratch, doesn't chew until the next injection which is every 6 weeks. Now we live in France, near Cognac, with a hectare of enclosed garden for him to play in. He is happy. But also, Kaiser has been a tail biter since he was 6 months old, taking fluoxetine has improved him considerably, but he had to have a sitter all the time. Now Kaiser can be left alone, not only for a short time, but even 6-7 hours. He doesn't spin when left alone, only during periods of high anxiety. I have thought about why he changed this behaviour and my best guess is that he was so uncomfortable because of his allergies that he didn't want to be alone, needed the distraction that human interaction provided. I recommend you tell your colleagues because the change has changed my life too, giving me the freedom and peace of mind to do things without worrying about Kaiser. He is 8 and a half years old and still a powerful and energetic working dog. So thank you from me and Kaiser!
Sincerely,
Tammy Hoyt
